Lake Trichonida and the countryside surrounding it, for centuries, many and even more difficult times than the present, nurtured with excellent quality products not only farmers and fishermen who worked its high-productive land and fished in its rich aquatic element, but also people who lived far farther. The main cultivations that defined the physiognomy and nutrition of the natives were ELIA (OLIVE), SITARI (WHEAT) and STAFILI (GRAPE). Olive oil, wheat bread and grape wine have not simply defined the diet of our people from the depths of our prehistory to the present but have been basic social meanings as well as worship elements of the timeless Greek religious
ritual and worship.
